Fundeni 258, sector 2, 022328, Bucharest, Romania INTRODUCTION Along with increasing population age the prevalence of conduction disorders has also increased. The only effective therapy of symptomatic conduction disorders is pacing. Each year ~750000 new pacemakers1 are implanted. Despite the clinical investigations conducted for nearly 20 years, the optimal way of pacing remains a controversial issue. Atrioventricular conduction disturbances2,3, left bundle branch block (LBBB)4,5 and right ventricular pacing6,7 show an impact on mitral regurgitation and ventricular function even in patients with preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). The magnitude and mechanics by which they infl uence mitral regurgitation are still not quantifi ed.

اثر PercutaneousCoronary Intervention Elective بر بهبودی نارسایی ایسکمیک میترال
Introdution: Ischemic mitral regurgitation (IMR) remains one of the most complex and unresolved aspects of ischemic heart disease that the impact of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on improvement of intensity of ischemic mitral regurgitation is not well clarified. Patients with coronary artery diseases and ischemic mitral regurgitation have a worse prognosis than the patients with coro...
متن کاملAdaptive cardiac resynchronization therapy for dilated cardiomyopathy with functional mitral regurgitation
We report the case of a man in his 60s who had dilated cardiomyopathy with severe functional mitral regurgitation. Four years after a cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) device with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator was implanted, this device was replaced with an adaptive CRT device because of battery consumption. Seven months after replacement of this device, the left ventricular p...
متن کاملPossible Effect of CABG on Moderate Mitral Regurgitation
Introduction: Mitral valve insufficiency in adults is often a complication of ischemic heart disease. Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is performed as a strategy for the treatment of coronary artery disease. The aim of this study was to evaluate mitral regurgitation (MR) before and after CABG. Materials and Methods: This Experimental study was condu...

Background and Aim: Cardiovascular disorders are the most common cause of premature deaths in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This study dealt with echocardiographical findings in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Materials and Methods: Forty patients with established diagnosis of RA for more than five years, who lacked any known cardiovascular and brain symptoms, were enrolle...
متن کاملIndications and recommendations for pacemaker therapy.
Each year, pacemaker therapy is prescribed to approximately 900,000 persons worldwide. Current pacemaker devices treat bradyarrhythmias and tachyarrhythmias and, in some cases, are combined with implantable defibrillators. In older patients, devices that maintain synchrony between atria and ventricles are preferred because they maintain the increased contribution of atrial contraction to ventri...
